South Lyon’s Ryan Lenahan, PGA Director of Instruction at Walnut Creek Country Club, is living every golfer’s dream this week as he competes in the 2025 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina (May 12-18). After a stellar T-5 finish at the 2025 PGA Professional Championship, Lenahan earned his spot among the world’s best, and we had the privilege of sitting down with him for an exclusive video interview!

In our chat, Ryan shares his journey from a standout collegiate golfer at the University of Nebraska to becoming a teaching pro in Metro Detroit. He opens up about the grind of qualifying for the PGA Championship, the thrill of competing on a major stage, and what it’s like to walk the fairways of Quail Hollow—a course known for its challenging "Green Mile" and rich history, having hosted the PGA Championship in 2017 and the Presidents Cup in 2022.

Lenahan, 40, is no stranger to high-level competition. With over 30 mini-tour victories, a course record-breaking 63 at the 2011 Michigan Open, and a Monday qualifier for the 2014 John Deere Classic, his resume speaks for itself. Yet, he remains grounded, emphasizing the importance of inspiring his students and representing Metro Detroit golf.

Watch the full video interview below to hear Ryan’s insights on preparing for Quail Hollow, his mindset facing golf’s elite, and his advice for local golfers chasing big dreams.
