The wait is finally over for local golf fans. After a massive, ground-up transformation that kept its gates closed for nearly two seasons, Pine Trace Golf Club has officially announced its return. The celebrated Rochester Hills course will reopen for public play on Friday, June 12, 2026.

When the course closed its gates in September 2024, the goal was clear: to take a legendary 35-year-old layout and elevate it into a premier, modern destination. This week's announcement confirms that Metro Detroit golfers are about to get their first look at a completely reborn track, which Michael Bylen, Pine Trace owner and operator, noted was part of a major vision to reestablish the property as a leader in public golf.

Pine Trace Golf Club | Rebuilding an Arthur Hills Classic

Rather than a simple property refresh, the management team executed a total infrastructure overhaul. While honoring the core beauty of the original, mature Arthur Hills architectural blueprint, workers rebuilt every single green and redesigned every bunker from scratch.

The extensive, multi-million dollar transformation includes:

  • Brand-new drainage and state-of-the-art irrigation systems.

  • Completely re-grassed fairways and pristine new cart paths.

  • A visually stunning landscape overhaul altering the character of nearly every hole.

  • Five varied tee options, stretching from a challenging 6,574-yard Championship option down to an approachable 3,941-yard layout.

The physical upgrades ensure the course turf conditions match the very best public tracks in the country. Additionally, the player experience is getting a boost off the course. The 19th Hole restaurant is returning with a fully updated clubhouse experience and a completely new menu featuring bold, satisfying dining options to enjoy right at the turn.

Rolling Out in Phases

While the 18-hole course is fully ready for Opening Day on June 12, the world-class practice facilities will be opening in phases as the summer rolls on. The putting green is scheduled to open mid-summer, followed by a brand-new, relocated full-service driving range and chipping area in late summer. Looking further down the road, a brand-new, standalone banquet and special events venue is already moving through the planning stages. This multi-phase strategy matches the rollout of its highly regarded sister courses, Shepherd's Hollow and Cherry Creek, ensuring a premier destination experience across the board.

Book Your Return Round

Demand is expected to be incredibly high for the opening weeks of the season as players rush to experience the upgrades. Tee times are now available through the club's updated online booking system. Grab your group, reserve your slot, and get ready to experience a whole new level of public golf right here in Oakland County.
